Teaching is more than a profession, it is giving an opportunity to those who need it, it is helping those who will not ask, and it is inspiring those who are lost.
As a teacher I will keep an energetic, happy and fun environment in my classroom. At the same time I will be fair and consistent in both the learning and discipline aspects. I will keep a classroom organized, productive and effective. I promise to not allow myself to get overwhelmed and fall behind. I promise myself, my students, and the parents of my students, that I will keep everyone involved and informed regarding their education. I ensure that no student will get left behind by being dedicated both in school and out of school hours if they need any help.
As a teacher I hope to bring inspiration to my students, even if they feel like they have no hope. I want the students to reach their full potential and have doors open for them they were not expecting. I want my students to walk out of the classroom having not learning just the subject matter but learning basic life skills including the important ones like confidence, pride, and the idea that they can accomplish anything if they set their hearts to it. Most importantly I want my students to leave my classroom each day feeling successful, as this feeling is what will ensure a want to come back and continue learning.
I believe that teachers need to be the first and last smile a student experiences in a day which means my classroom environment will always be welcoming. The welcoming environment means that I will ensure safety for my students, and from that I will have a no tolerance policy towards issues of bullying or harassment, a student needs to feel safe at school and safe in my classroom. With these beliefs I want to build a relationship with my students which will allow for trust, honesty and a have cooperative learning partnership. By cooperative learning partnership I mean I want my students to be involved, I expect them to not be a product of learning but a partner in learning. Not only will this relationship will build, not only on the things stated above, but it will also encompass a level of mutual respect and friendship between me and my students, and between the students themselves.
As a professional I will practice honesty, even if it is painful. I will accept criticism, even if it isn’t constructive. I will face success with modesty and I will always be willing to grow. I will stay true to the profession, even at times when I may be pulling my hair out. I promise to always follow district, school policies, and the ethics of the profession, even if I disagree. I promise to follow the law of In Loco Parentis and to be there and be responsible for my students at all times they are in my care. As a teacher I will be always learning, whether it is from colleagues, parents, classes or students, I will be open to new ways of thinking in hopes to keep my teaching skills and knowledge fresh for my students.
As a human I promise to be myself, not to be who the students expect, who the schools expect but who I expect myself to be. If I cannot be honest with my students about who I am, how can I expect them to be honest with me? I promise to take care of myself first, to be an effective teacher I must remain healthy and sane. As a teacher I must believe in my profession, believe in my students, but most importantly believe in myself. Teaching is more than a profession, it is giving, helping and inspiring.

My personal teaching beliefs shows who I am as a and what I bring to the classroom as a person rather than just a curriculum instructor.
